The RORC Transatlantic Race will begin from Puerto Calero Marina in Lanzarote on Saturday 28th November 2015.

Lanzarote

Lanzarote is the easternmost of the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa and part of the province of Las Palmas.  The volcanic island has a stunning variety of landscapes including sandy beaches, rocky coastline, mountain ranges and even a desert. During November, Lanzarote enjoys Trade Wind conditions with an average air temperature of 21oC and an average sea temperature of 17oC.

Puerto Calero Marina

Puerto Calero Marina is a family run leisure marina situated on the south side of the island, to the west of the international airport and the capital city of Arrecife.  Conceived of in 1986, the marina was built by 1989 and since doubled its size and capacity to 450 berths by 2006 with additional superyacht berths for superyachts up to 60m (maximum depth 5 metres).

Puerto Calero has hosted many top yachting events including the TP52 World Championships and RC44 events.  The Calero family are keen racers and regularly compete on the Mediterranean circuit.

Yacht Services

Fuel Dock

During winter the dock is open between 0800-2000.  It offers both diesel and unleaded petrol and accepts payment by cash or credit card.  There is also the option for a fuel delivery.

Pump-out facility

Located at the fuel dock, this service is available for both types of waste. Please ask the fuel dock attendant for assistance.

Water and electricity

Each berth has water and electricity (220V) connections. Always make sure that your electricity plug is correctly connected. If you do not have the right sized plug or adaptors, these are for sale from the marina chandlery or rent from the tower.

Extensively equipped for every need, the boatyard offers the following services:

  • 24 hour watch guard
  • 24 hour emergency service on VHF 9/16 or call: +34 608 31 59 47 (Dockmaster's mobile phone).
  • Customs and immigration advice.
  • Telephone, fax and Internet (wifi) services.
  • Assistance on all topics from hotels and leisure activities to sourcing parts and other purchases.

Other services in the marina include:

  • Local supermarket for fresh or non-perishable food (open 0800 - 2000 daily).
  • A local service of chauffeur-driven luxury cars for travelling around the island.

Local laws and etiquette:

Topless sunbathing is considered normal on the island but nudism is confined to quieter beaches.

You are advised to bring a couple of photocopies of your European Healthcard and passport, as you will need them for any medical treatment.

You must carry your passport with you by law.

You may be asked to show your passport when paying by debit or credit card.

They run from Monday - Friday 0800 - 1300/1630 - 1900 and on Saturday 0800 - 1300.

Cars are delivered to the marina and if required can be deposited at the airport.

From the marina: For schedules and information ask at the tower or see the information points.

Taxis

There are taxi ranks at the airport and the marina; normal tariff between the two is approximately €20.
