Gemervescence Arrives in Grenada
1500 UTC 18 December
RORC Commodore Steven Anderson's Cutter Gemervescence, co-skippered by Jane Anderson, has finished the RORC Transatlantic Race in an elapsed time of 23 days 02 hours 53 mins 18 secs.
“I have never raced for so long in light winds, we are really happy to finally arrive. Past Commodores and the RORC Committee are very active racers and that is why it is so strong, it is central to the club and a vital part of what it stands for.” commented Steven Anderson. “Port Louis gave us a fantastic welcome, to match the hospitality of Marina Lanzarote at the start, and both venues have been so friendly and very efficient. We will be flying home for Christmas but will return in January, to compete in the RORC Caribbean 600.”
After 23 days of racing two boats are still at sea, Lyssandra Barbieri's Dufour 40, Hatha Maris, and Berry Aarts' No Doubt. At 1500 UTC 18 December, No Doubt was 123 miles from the finish, and expected to cross the finish line in the next 24 hours.
